Getting Started with the Invention Convention

The first thing that you need to do is to make sure that your district has been invited and accepted the invitation to participate in the Invention Convention. Your Superintendent is who determines if your students are eligible. Here are the Miami Valley school districts that are participating in the 2006-2007 Invention Convention.

If you teach at a non-participating school, but are interested in using our program or material please contact Cherylyn Rushton. This program is for all kids, to help them learn, think and create. Any kid anywhere can invent, they just aren't eligible to compete at an Invention Convention...yet.

If you are a participating school, you can contact us at Just Think Inc. to find out who your contact person is. They will have, or receive the materials that you need to get your students started. You can also check out the 'Teacher Resources' page of this section for materials.

Once you get the material, it's up to you how to proceed with your students. Many schools have an assembly to introduce the program to students. You can talk about inventing, do exercises (we have a few in development that will be available soon), and discuss brainstorming and problem solving. Then it's up to you to pick the students from your school that will participate in The Invention Convention. If you have questions please contact Cherylyn Rushton.
