The day everyone is waiting for... Invention Convention Event Day!!! Here is all of the information you need, but if you have any questions you can ask your school district coordinator or contact us, we're here to help. This information is for the Regional Invention Convention, if you have questions about your school district finals please contact your teacher or school district coordinator.
Students either set up the night before (Columbus) or the morning of the event. Student Finalists will receive the event day schedule and event information from their coordinator and the information will be available here on our website on the 'Finalists' page prior to the event.
Students will arrive at the venue, pick up their badges and set up their invention at their designated booth. Once a student has set up their invention, they don't have to be back until their assigned judge time as designated by their badge color.
Student Badges designate both the inventors booth and the judge time. Below is an example of the badges.

Here is the judge schedule that corresponds with student finalists' badge color.

FINALISTS MUST BE:
Students from Participating District; Grades K-8; Chosen
by their District (District solely responsible for determining
their finalist representatives.)
FINALISTS MUST HAVE: Won at their district level elimination
round; A completed 'Official Registration Form' SIGNED
by their Parent/guardian; A completed 'Invention Convention
Journal'; A prototype of their invention - no larger than
2' X 3' & using batteries only.
FINALISTS MUST BE THERE TO WIN. Finalists must be present
at Judging; Finalists must be present to Win; Finalists
must be present to receive their award. (Personally)
TEAM ENTRIES All members must be present at all phases of
the competition; Awards split evenly among all members of
the team.
Student
Interviews begin at 12 noon and conclude at 2:30 p.m. at
which time scores will be calculated.
Each student will be interviewed by two Judges. If a team
entry, all members must be present at judging. All must
be present to win. Decision of the Judges are final. The
results are confidential and the property of Invention Convention.
Inventions are evaluated in relation to other inventions
at the same event, not in relation to prior Invention Conventions.
Invention evaluation covers a range of topics which include:
Prototype, Journal, Individual Interviews and Support Materials
as well as: Creativity, Inventiveness, Marketability, Practicality,
Audience Served and Overall Need.
A list of all student finalists and their booth information will also be uploaded and sent to each district coordinator.
