The Invention Convention is expanding
across the State of Ohio! Miami Valley held it's first annual event on January 14, 2006 at Wright State University, and Columbus celebrated it's 11th annual event in May. One of the Miami Valley winners appeared on Ellen in March where he received a $5,000 scholarship. And one of the Columbus winners is scheduled to appear on Montel in November - during sweeps week!
The Second Annual Miami Valley Regional Invention Convention is underway and scheduled for February 3, 2007. Miami Valley grew from 3 to 7 counties and we expect more great things from Miami Valley students.
The 1st Annual Cleveland Regional Invention Convention is underway with the Competition and Awards Ceremony scheduled for February 17, 2007! Cleveland marks the 3rd market and we look forward to discovering Cleveland's best students.
Columbus will hold it's 12th Invention Convention this year, and in 2008, we will expand into a fourth market. 2008 will also be the first year for The State Finals where the regional winners will then be invited to compete for the grand prize - a $15,000 scholarship!!!
Not only is The Invention Convention expanding statewide, but we are continuing to build partnerships with regional businesses and organizations to bring students additional resources and opportunities. In Columbus, we are working with Design Central to help students take their inventions to the next level - going from idea to product. This will be featured on Montel in November. And in Cleveland we will be partnering with a law firm to help students apply for provisional patents for their inventions. And we are continuing to look for additional partners who offer additional resources to children - helping to build community in each community.
